Debens, ankhs and saving your character

Gold is now called debens, after the measure in which ancient Egypt counted prices. The rare ankh is on its way, and you can now save your character with 500,000 debens as a gift.

Two pieces of news for the residents of Anubis City today: our coins have an Egyptian name now, and guests can finally save their characters.

Why debens

For most of its history ancient Egypt did without coins. Prices were counted in debens — a measure of weight for copper, silver or gold, about 91 grams in the New Kingdom. A scribe noted how many debens a sack of grain or a goat was worth, and people paid with other goods of the same value. In Anubis City the deben has finally become a coin: everything that used to be called gold is now debens, and your balance stays exactly the same.

Ankhs, the rare coin

Next to the debens at the top of the screen there is now a turquoise ankh — the Egyptian sign of life and the second, most valuable coin of the city. You will not win ankhs at a table: they will come for new levels, achievements and city festivals. For now the counter shows zero; what ankhs will be good for is on the rewards page.

Save your character

  • You can still start as a guest in one click — the first window only asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older and accept the Terms.
  • Right after you create your character, the city offers to save it: an email and a password, and 500,000 debens as a welcome gift.
  • While you are a guest, the turquoise “Save character” button waits at the top of the screen.
  • A saved character plays from any device with the same look, debens and level.
  • Forgot the password? “Forgot your password?” sends a link to your email.

Accounts were the next big step on our roadmap, and now they are in the city.
